Originally from North Carolina, Carrie received her BA in Journalism from East Carolina University in 1991 and her MA in Public Relations and Advertising from The University of Alabama in 1992.
As Communications Director for the Alabama League of Municipalities, she oversees marketing and public relations efforts for the League and its affiliate organizations and is responsible for strategic planning, grassroots campaigns and advocacy messaging as well as managing the content and design of the League's website, social media platforms and all published materials. Prior to joining the League's staff in 1997, she worked for the Alabama Education Retirees Association. Carrie has taught communications classes as an adjunct instructor for Troy University, Montgomery and is a 2017 graduate of the Delta Leadership Institute’s Executive Academy, which trains leaders from diverse backgrounds, sectors, and industries to improve the economic competitiveness and social viability of the Mississippi River Delta and Alabama Black Belt. In addition, she serves as Board Secretary for Alabama Communities of Excellence (ACE), is a board member for DesignAlabama, serves on the Advisory Council for the David Mathews Center for Civic Life and is the co-chair for the Local Activities Committee of the Alabama Bicentennial Commission (Alabama200). She is a past board member for the Alabama Council of Association Executives (ACAE) and the Montgomery Chapter of the Public Relations Council of Alabama (PRCA).
Carrie and her husband, Craig, are master-level scuba divers and outdoor enthusiasts who have been known to spend most of their vacation – and a ridiculously large portion of their income – traveling to dive sites around the globe.
