On May 21, Governor Kay Ivey issued an amended Safer at Home Order to be applied Statewide. The order which includes an expanded list of items to reopen will be effective Friday, May 22, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. and will expire on Friday, July 3, 2020 at 5:00 p.m.

Tenth Supplemental State of Emergency

On Friday, March 13, Governor Ivey declared a State of Emergency due to the spread of COVID-19. The Alabama League of Municipalities has created a page of quick links to resources – statewide and national – regarding the Coronavirus. According to the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH), this is an emerging, rapidly evolving situation. They and the CDC are providing updated information and guidance as it becomes available.

FEMA: Purchase and Distribution of Food Eligible for Public Assistance, April 12. Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, it may be necessary as an emergency protective measure to provide food to meet the immediate needs of those who do not have access to food and to protect the public from the spread of the virus. On April 12, 2020, FEMA issued a new policy that addresses the purchase and distribution of food eligible for Public Assistance funding under emergency and major disaster declarations for the COVID-19 pandemic.

Attorney General guidance regarding Amendment 772, April 7 : The Office of the Attorney General issued guidance with regard to the use of Amendment 772 to provide public money for programs that provide funding for economic development grants and loans to assist small businesses in light of the COVID 19 outbreak. The Attorney General has determined that the public benefit such programs would confer is too remote and indirect and therefore not an acceptable use of Amendment 772.
