The Municipal Leadership Institute will provide you with the training you need to solve and plan for problems that impact you & your municipality before they arise. Presentations by area experts will be given on timely issues and requested topics that confront today’s local elected officials. Exhibits will open at 10:30 a.m. on October 3. This unique showcase will offer an excellent opportunity for vendors & municipal officials to meet. Plan to connect with exhibitors and discover valuable tools for solutions to problems as well as innovative ideas for future planning.

CMO Information:    This Institute has been approved for six (6) Basic, Advanced or Emeritus hours and one (1) Emeritus point in the Certified Municipal Official Program.  Any municipal official or municipal personnel may register for the Institute, but only elected officials will be awarded credit hours in the CMO Program.

Topics Include:    Alabama Opportunity Zones, Rural Development in Alabama, Optimizing Retail Recruitment, Economic Development Incentives, Eco Tourism, Main Streets and Downtown Revitalization, Tourism as Economic Development

To ensure that there are no duplicate registrations, each registrant must use a separate email address. Payment in full must be received by the deadline above, or the registrations will be subject to the onsite registration fee amount. The astronomical cost of putting on the MLI makes it impossible to allow free admittance of guests of delegates at any function of the MLI agenda. Delegates are urged to pre-register their spouse/guest for the MLI lunch.

The League’s CMO Graduation Ceremony for those who have earned their Basic, Advanced, and Emeritus CMO designations will follow the 2019 Municipal Leadership Institute.  Registrants of the MLI will be sent information regarding the CMO Graduation Ceremony.

 

Cancellation

Cancellation requests must be received in writing by September 19, 2019.

Cancellation Policy: In order to receive a partial refund of your registration fee, your cancellation request must be received in writing by September 19, 2019. A $40 administrative fee will be charged for all cancellations, regardless of the reason for cancellation, including medical emergencies. Substitutes will be allowed. The League reserves the right to cancel any session for which 30 or fewer participants are registered. Registrants for any cancelled session will be refunded the registration fee paid. 

 

Spouse/Guest Luncheon ONLY Registration

A registered delegate may register one (1) spouse/guest to attend the MLI Luncheon. Spouse/Guest luncheon fee cannot be paid by the municipality; therefore, this fee must be paid by the official at the time of registration. 

The Spouse/Guest luncheon fee is restricted to persons who are not municipal or public officials, are not affiliated with any exhibitor, and would have no professional reason to attend the Municipal Leadership Institute.

The Spouse/Guest luncheon fee is available ONLY for a person who accompanies a full MLI registrant, and only to those who do not have any other reason to attend the ALM Convention.  Spouse/Guest registration does not include session attendance.

Eligibility of guests is subject to verification.

NOTE:  We are unable to process refunds for Spouse/Guest luncheon registrations; however substitutions of those meeting the Spouse/Guest description above will be allowed.
