American Fidelity Assurance Company does just that by partnering with the Alabama League of Municipalities to offer the latest trends in employer benefit solutions and build custom recommendations for your organization.

As a specialist in the public sector, American Fidelity can provide you with a different perspective — a different opinion. Take advantage of our Section 125 Plan administration, compliance services and medical reimbursement account administration – all at no additional cost to you. We also offer supplemental insurance products including Disability, Accident, Cancer, Life, and Critical Illness. Our online benefit enrollment platform, AFenroll, has full benefit enrollment capabilities, including enrollment for your medical, dental, and vision products.. During enrollment, our salaried, career account managers provide a consultative approach by focusing on educating your employees on their benefit options and providing custom recommendations based on their unique needs.

Nationwide, we serve nearly one million customers and 12,500 employer groups, including over 6,245 public sector employers. We take pride in delivering less worry, less work and using our 55+ years of expertise to provide you with top-notch benefit administration through our hands-on, simplifying approach.

Cable Television Franchise Management Service

The Alabama League of Municipalities sponsors a technical services program designed to assist member municipalities with cable franchise management. The goals of the program are to ensure that local governments have access to the expertise required to negotiate for the benefits and services needed in our communities on reasonable terms and conditions. The program is administered by Local Government Services, LLC. In return for a nominal fee, which is usually based on a municipality's population, cities and towns can obtain those services.

Model City Ordinance Review Program

The Alabama League of Municipalities, in conjunction with The Alabama Law Institute, provides a service through which law students at The University of Alabama review, upon request, at a nominal cost to the municipality, the ordinances of a city or town and offer suggestions as to needed changes or additions. A committee of veteran municipal attorneys was appointed to develop a set of model ordinances to help guide the law students selected to provide this service.

Law students are selected by the Alabama Law Institute for this program and trained by the League staff.

This service is offered to any municipality with a population of less than 4,000 inhabitants. The cost of the service is $450.00 for three days work plus mileage and lodging, if necessary. If more than three days are needed in a municipality, the students are available at a rate of $15.00 per hour.

If your city or town is interested in this service, contact Ken Smith  at the League. They will put you in contact with officials at the Alabama Law Institute so arrangements can be made for this service.

U.S. Communities

ALM is proud to sponsor the U.S. Communities™ Government Purchasing Alliance. U.S. Communities is the leading national government purchasing cooperative that reduces the cost of goods and services by aggregating the purchasing power of public agencies nationwide. U.S. Communities provides participants with access to a broad line of competitively solicited contracts with national suppliers that have committed to providing their lowest overall public agency pricing. Each month more than 500 new public agencies register to participate. This continuing rapid growth is fueled by the program’s proven track record of providing public agencies unparalleled value and the best government pricing available. The program offers:

  1. No User Fees – no costs or fees to participate.
  2. Best Overall Supplier Government Pricing – by combining the potential cooperative purchasing power of more than 90,000 public agencies, you are able to access the best overall supplier government pricing.
  3. Quality Brands – thousands of the best brands in a wide variety of categories, services and solutions.
  4. Integrity and Experience – unlike other government cooperative purchasing organizations, U.S. Communities national government purchasing cooperative is founded by 5 national sponsors and over 70 state, city and regional organizations.
  5. Oversight by Public Purchasing Professionals – our third party audits on contracts ensure that program pricing commitments are met, with benchmark analyses against other suppliers and retailers to guarantee participants the best overall value.

All contracts have been competitively solicited, evaluated and awarded by an impartial lead public agency in accordance with their public purchasing rules and regulations. Applying these competitive principles satisfies the competitive bid requirements of most state and local government agencies.
